This “AI Replies” feature may soon be deployed in Japan and for Japanese language environments. Following an analysis of the app code in the “Phone by Google” v207 update released on Friday, January 30, 2026, we confirmed that new Japanese code related to “AI Replies” has been added.

Incidentally, while the possibility of expanding “AI Replies” was identified as early as November 2025, this v207 update of the “Phone by Google” app marks the first time Japanese code has actually been included.

The “AI Replies” feature for “Call Screen,” powered by “Gemini Nano,” uses the large language model to dynamically arrange the suggested responses displayed on the screen during a “Call Screen” session to be more situationally appropriate. This enables more accurate call handling even when using “Call Screen.” Additionally, it is possible to use the standard “Call Screen” with “AI Replies” turned OFF.

“AI Replies” was initially launched in the US (English) for Google Pixel devices such as the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and it is also available on the newer generation Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
