Potential Japan Expansion for Google Translate’s ‘Practice’ Feature (v9.25)

  • The “Practice” feature in the Google Translate app for Android/iOS may be expanding to more languages and users, including Japanese.
  • Analysis of the in-app code of the Google Translate for Android app v9.25.31.827751604.1-release confirms the addition of Japanese descriptions related to the “Practice” feature.
  • We hope for a speedy rollout.

The Android/iOS app for the Google Translate service includes an AI-powered language learning feature called “Practice.”

However, this “Practice” feature in the Android/iOS Google Translate app is currently targeted at English-speaking users learning Spanish or French, and Spanish, French, or Portuguese-speaking users learning English. It has not yet been rolled out in Japan or for the Japanese language environment.

However, it’s possible that the “Practice” feature in the Android/iOS Google Translate app may be expanding to more languages and users, including those in Japan. After analyzing the in-app code of the Android Google Translate app v9.25.31.827751604.1-release, which was distributed around Monday, November 10, 2025, we have confirmed the addition of Japanese descriptions related to “Practice.”

<string name="notification_channel_practice_description">練習の毎日のリマインダーを受け取る</string>
<string name="notification_channel_practice_name">練習のリマインダー</string>
<string name="practice_input_permission_post_notifications_denied">リマインダーは後で [設定] でオンにできます。</string>
<string name="practice_input_permission_post_notifications_rationale">通知をオンにすると、練習のリマインダーが毎日届きます</string>

If the “Practice” feature in the Android/iOS Google Translate app is rolled out in Japan and for the Japanese language, it will be a helpful tool for learning languages like English. We’re looking forward to this expansion.
