- A rumor has emerged about the “Pixel 10” series: the elimination of the physical SIM card.
- The “Pixel 10,” “Pixel 10 Pro,” and “Pixel 10 Pro XL” will reportedly eliminate the physical SIM slot, becoming “eSIM” only.
- Meanwhile, the foldable Google Pixel device, the “Pixel 10 Pro Fold,” will continue to feature a physical SIM slot as before.
The new-generation Google Pixel device, the “Pixel 10” series, is set to be officially announced at the “Made by Google 2025” new product event, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM local US time / Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 2:00 AM Japan time.
A rumor has now emerged about this “Pixel 10” series: the elimination of the physical SIM card. According to long-time leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) on “X (formerly Twitter),” out of the “Pixel 10,” “Pixel 10 Pro,” “Pixel 10 Pro XL,” and “Pixel 10 Pro Fold,” the “Pixel 10,” “Pixel 10 Pro,” and “Pixel 10 Pro XL” will reportedly do away with the physical SIM slot and become “eSIM” only. However, it’s reported that they won’t just be eSIM-only, but will support two active “eSIMs”.
Meanwhile, the foldable Google Pixel device, the “Pixel 10 Pro Fold,” is said to retain its physical SIM slot as before. While this is just a rumor for now, if it turns out to be true, it would be a significant development.
However, there are also reports that the elimination of the physical SIM slot might only apply to the “Pixel 10,” “Pixel 10 Pro,” and “Pixel 10 Pro XL” in the United States. Since removing the physical SIM slot from the Japanese domestic version of the “Pixel 10” series would seem to have more disadvantages than advantages, it’s possible that Google will vary the SIM slot specifications depending on the region.
