Google Play Games on Android Rolling Out New “Game Rooms” Feature (v2025.05.61843)

On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Google announced a renewal of “Google Play Games,” the gaming platform within its content store, “Google Play.”

The announced renewal of “Google Play Games” includes numerous updates, such as support for creating a new “Gamer Profile,” a new in-game overlay tool called “Google Play Games Sidekick,” and a new “Game Details Page” that displays game-related information like ongoing events, developer updates, and special offers during download. However, it seems there is more to it than that.

Furthermore, we can confirm that the new “Game Rooms” feature in the Android “Google Play Games” app also includes numerous implementations, such as a playlist and notification functions. While it is not yet clear when “Game Rooms” will be officially launched, it is evident that Google is putting even more effort into its Android gaming platform centered around “Google Play Games.”
