Google’s car operating system “Android Auto” appears set to support ultra-high-density “xxxhdpi” in the future.

An analysis of the internal code of the “Android Auto” app for Android (v16.0.660224), released on Monday, January 19, 2026, revealed the addition of “xxxhdpi (values-xxxhdpi)” as a new drawing resource. Current versions of “Android Auto” support “xxhdpi” (extra-extra-high density) up to 480dpi (equivalent to 1080p). By supporting “xxxhdpi” (extra-extra-extra-high density) up to 640dpi, the system will be able to provide crisp, clear visuals on large displays that span the instrument panel or on 4K-compatible display audio units.

However, since the “values-xxxhdpi” drawing resource is currently empty, it is expected that development will continue to progress from here.
