Android’s Google Wallet: Potential for Card Benefits Display (v25.35.62)

  • A feature to display the details of benefits when paying with a credit card that offers such benefits might be implemented in the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app.
  • In the v25.35.62 update of the Android version of the “Google Play Services” app, distributed around September 15, 2025 (Monday), descriptions related to credit card benefit display were found in the app’s code.
  • Content suggesting a preview display of benefits available for registered credit cards on the home screen of the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app, and a detailed view via a “View more” button within that preview, has been confirmed.

In May of last year, 2024, Google began rolling out a new feature for “Google Pay,” the payment service within the mobile payment management service “Google Wallet.” This feature displays the benefits associated with a credit card at the time of payment. It was initially deployed for the desktop version of “Chrome.”

A similar feature may now be implemented in the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app. This is because descriptions related to credit card benefit display were discovered in the app’s code following the v25.35.62 update of the Android version of the “Google Play Services” app, which was distributed around September 15, 2025 (Monday). We will introduce this discovery.

This code suggests a preview display of benefits available for registered credit cards on the home screen of the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app, along with a detailed view accessible via a “View more” button within that preview. In other words, it is possible that if benefits are available for a credit card registered in the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app, users will be able to check those benefits directly from the app.

However, it’s important to note that the credit card benefit display feature in “Google Pay” for desktop “Chrome” was initially only available for a limited number of credit cards outside of Japan. Even after more than a year has passed, it remains unclear how widely this feature has been expanded.

Given this context, it is likely that if the credit card benefit display is rolled out for the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app, it will begin with a select few credit cards, likely in regions like the United States and other overseas markets.
